Pegasus Commemorates Land Rover’s 75th Anniversary With The Production Of 80″ Series 1 Bulkheads

Celebrating Land Rover’s 75th Anniversary In 2023

Pegasus, proudly celebrated the success of Land Rover’s 75th anniversary by manufacturing the 80″ Series 1 bulkheads; the first company to make them since the Rover Co. ended production in 1953.

This remarkable initiative, pays homage to Land Rover’s rich heritage and provides enthusiasts with the opportunity to restore and maintain their vehicles with authentic, newly manufactured bulkheads.

One of the most significant improvements you can make is by installing a brand-new bulkhead. This essential component not only enhances the structural integrity of your vehicle but also ensures its longevity and authenticity.

Paul Halley, the founder of Pegasus Bulkheads said “My first love was a 1949 Series One 80” which was introduced to me by my Grandfather, who exported Land-Rover parts around the world in the 1950s. Now 3 generations later I’m doing the same but making them instead”.

The 80″ bulkheads have been meticulously crafted to match the original specifications of these legendary vehicles. With a focus on quality and attention to detail, as always, these bulkheads provide a perfect fit and maintain the iconic curves.

Pegasus bulkheads have proven to be an exceptional fit after integrating all the parts into computer-aided designed bulkheads. The digital duplication process started with two old 1950 and 1951 bulkheads, which were beyond repair. To reverse engineer the exact look and feel of the curves of a signature Rover part in a three-dimensional CAD system is difficult at best, and interpreting the shapes for a computer can be time-consuming and an expensive process.

Replicating the main panel (pictured below) and main brackets (pictured right) was the most difficult part as Rover designed these components as single pressings. The complete assembly is built up on our purpose made jigs, using 37 alignment points, then TIG welded replicating the same techniques as the welders back in the 1950’s.

All this tradition can pose a challenge, especially when the Rover Co. made various upgrades throughout the years. But to help fellow enthusiasts identify their exact bulkhead, Pegasus came up with their own system, based around the year and month each vehicle went into production. For the 80” bulkheads there are 5 different Types.

Paul (pictured right) said “I’m very much looking forward to seeing all these iconic vehicles looking beautiful once again”. Not only are they a joy to drive, but they are a great investment too!

Enthusiasts can now embark on their restoration projects with confidence, knowing that they have access to authentic, newly manufactured bulkheads.
